The Harvesting Process

Our pumpkins are planted in December when the soil has warmed up sufficiently.

We use no sprays over our plants and all weeding is done by hand with hoes!

When the pumpkin leaf and stem have died away naturally, we row up the bright orange pumpkins and harvest them with a specialist machine which separates the seeds out. The flesh is left on the ground to be eaten by stock or return to the soil.

The seeds are then soaked overnight and washed. From here, they are dried and dressed for using in the many dishes that so many enjoy!

We took a novel approach to our hemp growing this season, but unfortunately it was a failure, and we once again harvested no seed crop. You never know unless you try!
